Oregon Football Signee Spotlight: TE Kenyon Sadiq
On today's installment of our 2023 Oregon Football signee spotlight, we're taking an in-depth look at Idaho Falls (ID) Skyline High School tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
He's one of many early enrollees that's already set up in Eugene and he's the lone tight end the Ducks signed this cycle as of Feb. 10.

Evaluation
Sadiq had an impressive senior season, capping off his high school career with a third straight state title and 62 catches, 1,303 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. He averaged 21 yards per catch and just over 100 receiving yards per game.
When you turn on the tape you'll see him lining up all over the field, but a lot of his best plays actually come from the receiver spot. He has great speed for his size at 6'3", 220 pounds, which he routinely uses to get behind defenses and outrun defenders.
He was the go-to guy for Skyline's offense, making plays on deep passes, shovel passes, sweep plays and screens. His athleticism brings added value as he also played basketball and ran track and field, even posting a 11.04 time in the 100 meters last spring.
Sadiq also has strong ball skills, climbing the ladder and mossing defensive backs throughout his senior year. One of his best games of the year came against Sandpoint in the Idaho 4A semifinals, when he turned six catches into 246 yards and five touchdowns.
Lastly, there's not a lot of tape to evaluate his ability as a blocker, but when he is blocking he showcases the physicality you'd like to see and drives his defenders into the dirt to finish off blocks. All that to say he's more of a pass-catching tight end than your traditional blocking tight end and he'll need to add some weight if he is going to be an impact blocker at the college level.

The Recruitment, how it happened
Sadiq flew under the radar for much of his recruitment, probably because he comes from a state that doesn't traditionally produce a lot of high-end college football talent. He didn't let that stop him though, as he dominated his entire career and on the camp circuit as well.
He did reel in some pretty big offers outside of Oregon including Michigan, Texas and Oklahoma State. Sadiq entered his senior season as the No. 317 player in the country and ended his recruitment ranked No. 115 nationally capping off a near meteoric rise on the trail.
The Idaho native took official visits to Michigan, Washington, Washington State, Iowa State and Oregon.
He came out with a top three that didn't even include Oregon, but was instead focused on Michigan, Washington and Iowa State. The next he committed to the Ducks.
Outlook at Oregon
The Ducks are set to enter spring football with just three scholarship tight ends. Aside from Sadiq they have Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert.
With Moliki Matavao (UCLA), Cam McCormick (Miami) and Terrell Tilmon (Texas Tech), all transferring out, the room doesn't have much depth. That could lead to Sadiq earning some important snaps as a true freshman.
Like I said in the eval he needs to add more wait before he's ready for the college level, but his athleticism and high school production make me confident that he can develop into a regular contributor at Oregon during his college career.
