Oregon Picks up Prediction to Land Major Transfer Portal Target

Former USC wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. has emerged as one of Junior Adams' top options in the transfer portal.

The transfer portal reopened on Saturday and the Oregon Ducks saw three players enter their names, highlighted by linebacker Keith Brown. Cornerback Jalil Tucker and defensive lineman Treven Mae'e rounded out a group of relatively surprising transfers.

But it's not all departures for Oregon. At least not right now.

On Saturday, 247Sports' Greg Biggins logged a prediction for Oregon to land former USC wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr.

Bryant spent the last three seasons with the Trojans before entering the transfer portal in January. During his three years he appeared in 18 games and caught 53 passes for 645 yards and seven touchdowns.

He utilized a redshirt in 2022 after Lincoln Riley brought in a slew of high-profile wide receivers from the transfer portal including Jordan Addison, Mario Williams and Brenden Rice.

It sounds like Bryant has wrapped up his visits and can shift into decision mode. He took trips to Oregon, Arizona, Miami, Texas A&M and UCLA.

Oregon has some familiarity on their side in this recruitment. Not only were the Ducks one of the hats on the table for Bryant when he was coming out of Corona (Calif.) Centennial High School, but he also has a great relationship with Junior Adams. Washington was a top school for the coveted wide receiver the first time around and the former Huskies wide receiver coach could be in line to reunite with Bryant in Eugene.

The Ducks have added a number of wide receivers ahead of the 2023 college football season including Alabama transfer Traeshon Holden and Troy transfer Tez Johnson. They also signed a pair of All-Americans out of the high school ranks in Ashton Cozart and Jurrion Dickey

Cozart is already enrolled and practicing with the team this spring, while Dickey is slated to arrive in the summer. The former USC wide receiver may not be a pressing need for Oregon given the depth at the position, but he doesn't seem like a player the Ducks would turn away if he wants to play in the green and yellow.

Texas A&M appears to be Oregon's main competition as this recruitment winds down. Bryant is slated to announce his transfer destination on May 13, and for now it looks like the Ducks are the favorite.
