Oregon QB Commit Luke Moga Named San Tan Region Player of the Year
2024 Oregon Ducks quarterback commit Luke Moga has been named the San Tan Region Player of the Year.
The Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope signal caller led the Vikings to a 6-5 record in 2023 before a 35-20 playoff loss to the Notre Dame Prep Saints on Thursday night. He was also named to the San Tan Region First-Team.
Moga led the Vikings on a perfect 5-0 run through the San Tan league this season and threw for 1,883 yards and 23 touchdowns against 5 interceptions, completing 53.6% (134/250), according to MaxPreps. It's worth noting that he had to overcome drops throughout the season.
In addition to his passing, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback put on a show with his legs, rushing for 657 yards and 12 touchdowns on 100 carries, using his 10.5 speed (100 m) to run away from opposing defenses. Moga finished the year with three games (123, 124, 131) of 100 or more rushing yards.
The Arizona standout committed to the Ducks back in April and pointed to the family feel as one of the main reasons.
"It felt like family every time," Moga said of his decision in the spring. "Everyone talks about the facilities, but it's really a family environment. That's what ultimately led me (to) ending up there."
Spring Check in With Oregon QB Commit Luke Moga
Moga will be in Eugene this weekend for another visit to see the Ducks take on USC. He'll take the trip alongside fellow 2024 Oregon quarterback commit Michael Van Buren from Baltimore (Md.) Saint Frances Academy.
Both quarterbacks are on track to enroll early at Oregon and join the team for winter workouts and spring football.
