Oregon Ramping up Efforts to Flip Elite RB Nate Frazier From Georgia

Frazier had Oregon as a finalist when he made his commitment to Kirby Smart in August.

Oregon's 2024 recruiting class already ranks inside the top-10, but Dan Lanning and the coaching staff aren't getting complacent.

They're pursuing some of the top uncommitted players in the country, but they're also trying to flip some committed recruits they missed out on earlier in the cycle.

One of those players is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout Nate Frazier. He's the top all-purpose back in the country and is committed to Georgia. Ducks Digest got to catch up with Frazier on Thursday night to get the latest in his recruitment.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound ballcarrier discussed why he committed to Georgia.

"Honestly for me when you just look at the history those guys got with the running back position," he said of his commitment. "And all the things that they provide for you coming into the school just besides football--education-wise, just the atmosphere and everything around. It just seems like it's right for me.

"But the main thing for me with committing there was just really the family environment. The family environment, the connections that all those coaches have, even when they're going through tough times, they still pull together and make things happen."

Frazier can do it all. He can run, catch out of the backfield and block. He's excited to put those skills to use in Mike Bobo's offense and gave some insight on the fit.

"All around back I can line up on the outside," Frazier said. "I see they get those guys up in the outside. Really with Georgia if you're really a good player, you're going to play on the field. Really for me it's going to be all around. Backfield, slot position, doing everything I could to get the ball in my hands to get me in the end zone when you're a special player."

While he's been committed to Georgia for just over two months, that hasn't stopped other schools from continuing to recruit him.

"I hear from a couple schools. I'm hearing from a lot of schools, from various schools. I'm not gonna get too much into that, but still hearing from schools of course."

Is Oregon one of those schools?

"Oh yeah of course man. Of course I'm hearing from those guys man. Especially since Aydin (Breland) committed, I've been hearing from those guys for sure."

Five-Star DL Aydin Breland Talks Oregon Commitment, What's Next

Breland's commitment gives the Ducks tangible recruiting momentum and they're doing what they can to stay alive in Frazier's recruitment.

"Basically going over their whole offensive scheme and how they're getting stuff done and how they want to use me in their offense," he said of the conversations he's having with the Oregon staff.

Frazier has made it a point to keep everything respectful when it comes to managing those conversations.

"I just keep it honest and keep it as 100% as I possibly could," he said. "Get true feelings but that's all. That's it. Just keep it honest and keep it 100 because lying is not gonna take you nowhere. It's gonna cause deeper problems."

I asked Frazier if he's locked in with his Georgia commitment and he emphasized that he's focused on the task at hand.

"Just locked in. Not even that. Just really focused on the season. Focused on the season, already committed, just focus on the season and just letting that (recruiting) be what it is. That's all it really is to me, just maintaining the focus on the football season trying to be CIF champions or national champs."

Frazier didn't rule out the possibility of taking future recruiting visits.

"(I) Don't even know yet. Really like I said just focusing on the season. Don't even know about taking trips. Making sure that our team gets to CIF and wins CIF champs that's it."

The Georgia running back commit finished the interview with grace, gratitude and humility.

"I'm just a child of God. Just humble and thankful for all the opportunities that's came my way and I just thank all my supports, all my fans, everybody who has rooting for me to go far. Thank you. I love you guys and thank you so much."
