The impact commitments just keep coming for Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

Duke defensive back Brandon Johnson announced his commitment to Oregon on Wednesday afternoon.

Listed at 5'10", 180 pounds on Duke's 2023 roster, Johnson comes to Oregon after primarily playing nick during his three seasons in Durham. The Newton, North Carolina native totaled 128 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 7.5 sacks and 2 interceptions while with the Blue Devils.

Johnson will have one year of eligibility remaining upon joining the Ducks, who have added multiple pieces to their secondary this offseason, highlighted by Kansas State safety Kobe Savage and UTSA cornerback Kameryn Alexander. He can play safety and cornerback, which only adds to the value of his commitment.

They also signed cornerback Sione Laulea III, one of the top junior college prospects in the country for 2024, as well as a pair of All-American cornerbacks from the high school ranks in Dakoda Fields and Ify Obidegwu.

Johnson played in 25 games at Duke, with 14 of those being starts. His strongest connection to Oregon is likely newly-minted defensive backs coach and co-defensive coordinator Chris Hampton, who recruited him out of high school and signed him as part of the Blue Devils' 2021 recruiting class.

Oregon's secondary will return Tysheem Johnson as the most experienced safety after losing Evan Williams, Steve Stephens IV and Bryan Addison from a season ago. The Ducks now have ten commitments from the transfer portal, with Johnson being the newest player to join the team, following the addition of former Houston defensive lineman and All-Big-12 selection Ja'Maree Caldwell.
