Sione Laulea, Nation’s No. 1 JUCO Prospect, Commits to Oregon

The rich get richer with an another elite defensive back heading to Eugene.
In this story:

2024 College of San Mateo (Calif.) cornerback Sione Laulea has committed to the Oregon Ducks.

He announced his decision over Instagram on Sunday evening. The Bay Area native chose the Ducks from a top three that also included the Miami Hurricanes and the USC Trojans. Sources told Ducks Digest that Penn State also made a late push leading up to his decision.

Laulea stands at 6’4” 185 pounds and is ranked the No. 1 junior college prospect in the country according to 247Sports. He’s the third Bulldog to commit to the Ducks in recent years, following in the footsteps of defensive back Bennett Williams and offensive lineman George Moore.

I placed my prediction for Oregon to land Laulea on September 28.

With Laulea now in the fold, he becomes the third cornerback in the Ducks’ 2024 class and joins elite prep standouts Dakoda Fields and Ify Obidegwu.

Two other major names to watch on the recruiting trail for Oregon include 5-star Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic edge rusher Elijah Rushing, who just de-committed from Arizona, and 5-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Aydin Breland, who will choose from a top 3 of Oregon, Georgia and Miami on October 14.
