The Latest With Oregon and Jameson Powell

Jameson Powell is an early name to watch on the West Coast and was in Eugene for the USC game.

Over the weekend the Oregon Ducks hosted Folsom (Calif.) wide receiver Jameson Powell for a visit. He's one of the top wideouts on the West Coast and was offered by the staff in late July.

He spoke with Ducks Digest about the trip, which he made alongside his quarterback, 2026 standout Ryder Lyons.

“It was great. It was crowded. It was like something I never experienced," Powell said of the Autzen atmosphere at the Oregon vs. USC game. "I love the culture."

What was it about the culture that made it special?

“The fanbase is crazy. Everyone loves the football team. Everyone’s like a big family. The whole fanbase.”

For Powell, getting to see players at his position put on a show against the Trojans were among the highlights from his time in Eugene.

“Of course watching the game and seeing the receivers come out and execute and come out with the win. Seeing Troy (Franklin) and Tez (Johnson) doing their thing, I look up to those guys.

"Meeting the coaches and talking with Dan Lanning. Spending time with Junior Adams.”

Oregon is off to a hot start recruiting in the 2026 class. While there may only be one commit, it's a big one in Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain five-star defensive lineman Tony Cumberland.

Powell's recruitment has a West Coast flavor early on, with early offers from schools like Colorado and Oregon State. One thing in particular stands out the most about Oregon.

“Like I said, it’s just the family," the 5-foot-10, 165-pound wideout said. "The culture of the whole Oregon fanbase and everything. The coaches, everyone just makes me feel like it’s a home there. That’s what stands out most, how everyone is together.”

Following his most recent trip to Eugene, Powell has a couple other spots he'd like to check out.

“I might be going to the Washington vs. Washington State game (in Seattle) and I might be going to the Notre Dame vs. Stanford game (in Palo Alto), but those games are on the same day, so I’m still deciding. I’m trying to see Oregon State as well.”

With Powell being such a young recruit, communication has been limited, but there's a few school's he's had the most contact with.

“I’m in the most contact with Washington. Oregon of Course. Not really too much else because they can’t really talk to me.”
