Oregon may not be playing Colorado until next week, but the big-time visitors are already lining up their trips to Eugene.

On Friday, 2026 five-star Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain defensive lineman Tony Cumberland announced that he will be at Oregon for a visit when the Ducks take on Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.

"Back in Eugene next week to see my Duck Family," Cumberland said in a Tweet.

Cumberland may just be beginning his sophomore season in the desert, but he's wasted no time attracting major offers from some of the biggest schools in the country.

Following a stellar freshman season in which he recorded 42 tackles for loss, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman has already landed 10 reported scholarship offers from the likes of Oregon, Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas among others.

Ducks Digest was on the road in the spring and got to see Cumberland in person at a joint college showcase that featured his Desert Mountain team.

Torres' Take

As crazy as it sounds, the top players in the 2026 class are starting to come into focus. 247Sports released their initial top 100 players and Cumberland was listed at No. 11 on that list, and No. 27 on the Composite.

I spoke to one source around the Oregon program that told me Cumberland could legitimately be in the conversation for the No. 1 player in the 2026 class when all is said and done. He's that special.

The Ducks have made Arizona a big priority on the recruiting trail under Dan Lanning, signing players like defensive linemen A'Mauri Washington (Chandler) and My'Keil Gardner (Liberty) and cornerback Cole Martin (Basha) in the 2023 recruiting class.

They also hold two verbal commitments from the state in the 2024 recruiting class with quarterback Luke Moga (Sunnyslope) and Jaxson Jones (Yuma Catholic).

While it's unlikely Cumberland is anywhere close to a decision, it never hurts to be in a good spot early and I think Oregon is.
