Visitor Spotlight: RB Jason Brown Jr. Heads to Eugene for Oregon vs. Colorado

The Ducks will host their top running back target in the 2024 recruiting class on an important trip this weekend.
In this story:

2024 Seattle (Wash.) O'Dea running back Jason Brown Jr. will return to Eugene as one of the biggest names on this weekend's recruiting visitor list for No. 10 Oregon vs. No. 19 Colorado on Saturday.

The shifty playmaker will be back for another trip after visiting in July for Saturday Night Live. He's working from a top three of Oregon, Washington and Michigan State, but has yet to set a commitment date.

Oregon already has one running back committed this cycle in Washington, D.C. standout Da'Jaun Riggs, but the Ducks would love to add one more.

This is a very important visit for Dan Lanning and company, as Brown was recently predicted to commit to Michigan State. However, with Mel Tucker getting fired by the Spartans, one would think that changes the dynamic of this recruitment significantly.

The latest I'm hearing on Brown is that Oregon sits in a good spot. I made my prediction for Brown to commit to the Ducks back in August, and given the recent developments, I'm feeling better about that pick.

But there's another new wrinkle here. Washington is trying to get back into the mix, and that certainly makes sense. With Tucker out at Michigan State that presents a new window of opportunity for the Huskies.

For what it's worth, I haven't viewed Washington as a big threat to Oregon in this recruitment, but they are the hometown school and have been involved for a long time. Add to that the success Kalen DeBoer's team is having this season with their explosive offense and you can see the appeal.

Despite Washington trying to turn up the heat, the Ducks still sit in a great spot and have developed a very strong relationship here. Brown has never been in a rush to make a decision, but I think Oregon can really solidify themselves as the leaders here and put some more distance between them and other schools.

A positive development for Oregon coming out of this trip would be Brown setting a decision date. I don't have any intel that that's the expectation, but it would be further evidence that this could be trending in favor of the Ducks.

Oregon's running back room is loaded with big-time talent waiting in the wings and Brown would be a big addition to this 2024 class.
