Washington Cornerback Jabbar Muhammad Commits to Oregon
Former Washington Huskies cornerback Jabbar Muhammad has committed to the Oregon Ducks. He chose Oregon from a top three schools that also included the Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide.
He’ll have one one season of eligibility remaining upon enrolling at the University of Oregon.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback committed to the Ducks following a trip to Eugene this weekend.
Muhammad was an All-Pac-12 selection in 2023 after transferring in from Oklahoma State.
Last season he logged 20 pass breakups, 5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 2 sacks for the Huskies.
He’s the fourth defensive back transfer to commit to Oregon this offseason, joining Duke nickel Brandon Johnson, Kansas State safety Kobe Savage and UTSA cornerback Kameryn Alexander. The DeSoto, Texas native is also the first cornerback to commit to Oregon since cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin took a job on Jonathan Smith’s staff at Michigan State.
Muhammad is the 11th overall transfer portal commitment Oregon has added this off-season in a haul highlighted by players like former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel and former Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart, a five-star recruit from the 2022 class.
Muhammad projects to start alongside returner Jahlil Florence at cornerback in 2024 in a secondary that’s undergone a lot of change since the end of the 2023 season.
The Ducks also added three other cornerbacks highlighted by a duo of high school All-Americans Dakoda Fields and Ify Obidegwu as well as Sione Laulea III, a junior college standout ranked inside the top five overall players nationally.
Muhammad’s addition shows that Oregon has made improving the secondary a major priority ahead of making their debut in the Big Ten.
