Wide Receiver Becoming a Numbers Game for Oregon in 2024

The Ducks have landed four wide receivers and are still in the mix for multiple high-profile pass catchers.

The Oregon Ducks landed another big commitment on Monday, as 2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei wide receiver Jack Ressler announced his commitment to Dan Lanning and Oregon

With Ressler in the fold, Junior Adams now has four wide receivers committed and space is limited at the position. After signing just two high school wide receivers in the 2023 cycle, it's looking like five could be the sweet spot in 2024.

Dan Lanning and the Ducks will host numerous top targets for official visits this month and we're looking at some of the other wide receivers Oregon is still in the running for and who could be next in 2024.

Ryan Pellum

As is typically the case, Southern California is littered with receiver talent once again this cycle. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound wide receiver has been linked to the Ducks for a long time since his uncle Don Pellum coached linebackers at Oregon for more than 20 years.

Pellum is working from a top 10 that includes national powers like LSU, but from what I can tell it looks like this could be shaping up to be another Oregon vs. USC battle. Both programs will get official visits this month and Junior Adams shouldn't be counted out for any wide receiver, especially those in his home state.

Pellum was also former teammates with Oregon commit Jordan Anderson at Millikan before Anderson transferred to Newport Harbor.

Jeremiah McClellan

The St. Louis native will also take an official visit with the Ducks this month. He's another top target for Junior Adams, who stopped by his school during the spring evaluation period.

Missouri continues to become more of a priority for Oregon on the recruiting trail and they'd love to add McClellan after missing out on his Christian Brothers teammate, running back Jeremiyah Love last cycle after he committed to Notre Dame. McClellan was last in town for the spring game and Elite 11 regional and the Ducks should be involved until the very end.

Maybe Dan Lanning gets more involved here personally as another top player from his home state is heavily considering the Ducks.

Gatlin Bair

The speedster from Idaho will take his official visit this weekend and has the Ducks in his top five along with Michigan, Boise State, TCU and Nebraska. He just took his official visit to TCU and I haven't heard a lot of strong Oregon buzz in his recruitment.

However, the Ducks will obviously take their shot and showcase their world class facilities to the blazing-fast track star. They have plenty of speed in the fold already, but if Bair wants to hop in he could be very tough to turn away. I'm NOT saying that's the case, but boy would that be an interesting wrinkle.

Alabama also offered after he released his top five, which makes me think there's still a ways to go here.

James Madison II

Madison is one of the bigger wideouts Oregon is recruiting this cycle at 6'3", 190 pounds. He has the Ducks in his top schools along with Missouri, Michigan, Florida State and Louisville.

That said, it really seems like Missouri has turned up the heat and that's where he'll land on July 4. But there's still some time if the Ducks can get him on campus for a visit.

It's never easy to pull Florida recruits, but a close relationship with fellow Kansas City native Dan Lanning could keep Oregon involved if they want to stay in the mix.

Terry Bussey

Bussey is a bit of an under the radar name for Oregon in 2024. That is, if you can be under the radar with a five-star rating.

I first heard of Bussey when he included the Ducks in his top 11 last month, but the last I heard he's supposed to make it out to Eugene this month. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete can play running back as well and Oregon still doesn't have a commitment at the position, so that could be worth noting.

The Ducks have made Texas a major priority on the trail and Bussey is one of the best playmakers from the Lone Start State this cycle.
