The Penn State Transfer Portal Tracker
Happy NCAA Transfer Portal season to those who celebrate. The portal officially opened Dec. 4 to a flurry of announcements, including one from Ohio State starting quarterback Kyle McCord that he had entered the portal. Expect more big names to follow.
The Penn State football program will be active in the portal as well, pursuing significant needs across the roster. The Nittany Lions also will lose players to the portal. Here's our Penn State transfer portal tracker, which will be updated.
Receiver Cristian Driver enters the portal
Driver marked the first decision in what likely will be a changing receiver room at Penn State. The redshirt freshman entered the portal after making the transition from defensive back to receiver this season (Audrey Snyder of The Athletic first reported the news). Driver played in five games this season, making one reception against Delaware. Driver was an intriguing member of Penn State's 2022 recruiting class. His father Donald played 14 NFL seasons as a receiver, and Franklin coached Donald Driver with the Green Bay Packers in 2005.
Punter Alex Bacchetta enters the portal
Bacchetta, a member of the 2022 recruiting class, became the first player to enter the portal. The punter from Atlanta did not see action this season, as Florida Atlantic transfer Riley Thompson won the starting job and All-Big Ten honors. Bacchetta was a recruiting coup in 2022, earning a scholarship as the nation's top-ranked punter by Kohl's Kicking.
