Seven Penn State Players Headed to the NFL Combine
Seven Penn State players received invites to the 2023 NFL Combine, though the program's all-time leading quarterback wasn't.
Sean Clifford, who set multiple Penn State records last season and was the offensive MVP of the Rose Bowl, was not among the 15 quarterbacks invited to the event in Indianapolis. Former Penn State quarterback Will Levis, who became a first-round prospect during two seasons in Kentucky, is on the list.
Penn State's seven invitees are receivers Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley, tight end Brenton Strange, defensive backs Joey Porter Jr. and Ji'Ayir Brown, defensive lineman PJ Mustipher and center Juice Scruggs. Porter and Strange declared early for the draft.
A total of 319 players received combine invites. The event is scheduled for Feb. 28-March 4.
Clifford is among the more interesting players who wasn't invited. A sixth-year senior and four-year starter, His season completion percentage (64.4 percent) was higher than that four invitees, including TCU's Max Duggan.
Clifford also has played in two postseason all-star games and is training in Florida. He'll turn his attention to Penn State's Pro Day in March to throw for NFL scouts.
Clifford is the No. 33 quarterback in this draft class, according to NFL Draft Bible. The site projects him as an undrafted free agent.
Off the field, Clifford and his brother Liam recently sold their Limitless NIL agency to another firm. They will continue to operate Limitless as a subsidiary brand of TEAM.
