Penn State Unveils 2023-24 Wrestling Schedule
Penn State wrestling will host seven home dual matches and one major exhibition during the 2023-24 season, as the Nittany Lions pursue their 11th NCAA wrestling title under head coach Cael Sanderson. And the Nittany Lions will open the wrestling season at a high school in Pennsylvania.
Penn State begins the 2023-24 campaign at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, an individual round-robin tournament scheduled for Nov. 12 at Freedom High School in Bethlehem. The tournament will feature Penn State, Lehigh, Arizona State, Pitt , Purdue and North Carolina State, among other teams. A week later the Lions will participate in the Army Black Knight Invite, where they won five individual titles last season.
Penn State then will host the NWCA All-Star Classic at Rec Hall on Nov. 21. The exhibition hosts some of the most accomplished college wrestlers in a fascinating early season event. Last year the Lions' Carter Starocci, Aaron Brooks and Greg Kerkvliet won their bouts in the event in Austin, Texas. Matchups have not been announced for the 2023 NWCA All-Star Classic.
Penn State begins the dual-match season by hosting Lehigh on Dec. 3 at Rec Hall. This year's Bryce Jordan Center match is scheduled against Rutgers on Feb. 12. Penn State will host Indiana, Ohio State and Nebraska in Big Ten matches at Rec Hall.
