PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers suffered an ugly loss to start last week but rebounded quickly and held onto their spot in Andy Katz's Power 36 rankings this week.

Katz moved the Panthers down only slightly, dropping them to No. 30 from No. 28 after a 1-1 week that included a blowout loss at Wake Forest and a bounce-back victory over Virginia Tech. Clemson, who hosts Pitt this week, was ranked one spot ahead of the Panthers at No. 30.

"The Panthers have won six of seven with the only loss being at surging Wake Forest," Katz wrote.

Five ACC teams are ranked in the Power 36 - No. 12 North Carolina, No. 13 Duke and No. 21 Wake Forest joined Pitt and Clemson. Last week's No. 29 team, Virginia, was dropped after an 0-2 week.

Pitt clinging to slimming odds of grabbing a top four seed in the coming ACC Tournament with four games left in the regular season. They are also still holding on to the very edge of consideration to an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Katz's high opinion of the Panthers certainly helps but more wins to close out the year would help even more.
