WASHINGTON, DC -- The Pitt Panthers might have put themselves over the top and into the NCAA Tournament field with a win in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals over Wake Forest, if one bracketologist is right.

CBS Sports' Jerry Palm has elevated Pitt from First Four Out to Last Four In status following an 81-69 win over the Demon Deacons in Washington, D.C. this week. This is the first time the Panthers have cracked the projected field of a major NCAA Tournament prediction this March.

Palm has the Panthers heading back to Dayton, Ohio for the First Four, where they would meet fellow 11 seed Colorado at UD Arena. Pitt played in the First Four last season and defeated Mississippi State in a late-night nail-bitter.

Pitt is the last team in the Last Four In, according to Palm. Colorado, Mississippi State and Virginia are narrowly ahead of them.

The Panthers have a chance to give their resume a massive boost and possibly avoid the First Four altogether if they can defeat North Carolina - a projected 2 seed in Palm's projections - in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
