PITTSBURGH -- Georgia Tech is already set to face a hostile environment when they travel to face the Pitt Panthers at the Petersen Events Center and will have to do it shorthanded.

Devion Smith, a 6'1 junior guard from Loganville, Georgia, will not play against the Panthers, according to head coach Josh Pastner. Smith, who is dealing with an ankle injury, is a valuable rotation piece for the Yellow Jackets.

Smith, a former top-100 recruit in the class of 2020, is averaging eight points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game over 24.8 minutes per contest. He's started 13 of Georgia Tech's 27 games and appeared in 24 of them.

The Panthers, meanwhile, have no injuries to speak of besides some bumps and bruises that head coach Jeff Capel said are only natural for players this deep into the season.
