PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have garnered more national respect as they stacked wins and climbed to the top of the ACC standings. Following two blowout victories over Georgia Tech and Syracuse, two major national college basketball analysts have the Panthers in the top 25 of their most recent power rankings.

Turner Sports and NCAA men's college basketball analyst Andy Katz moved Pitt up nine spots in his new Power 36 rankings, highlighting their position in first place in the conference. Just three other ACC teams - No. 12 Miami, No. 18 Duke and No. 30 Virginia - cracked the Power 36.

Jon Rothstein from CBS Sports also slotted the Panthers at No. 23 in his Rothstein 45 rankings. He reiterated that head coach Jeff Capel should win ACC Coach of the year and ranked six other ACC teams - No. 12 Miami, No. 15 Virginia, No. 24 Duke, No. 29 Northwestern and No. 45 North Carolina.
