Pitt Panthers men's basketball coach Jeff Capel believes his team could make a run in the 2022 ACC Tournament despite being the 12th seed.

Capel spoke ahead of the Panthers tipoff with Boston College on Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. ET. During his media session, confidence ini his 11-20 Pitt squad.

"As a competitor, you should always think you can go on a run," Capel said. "If you play like you are capable of playing, we can win, we can beat anyone... Our concentration is on BC."

Pitt's chances are slim, according to KenPom.com’s statistical model, which gives them a 41.5% chance of advancing to the second round and a 5.6% chance of getting into the quarterfinals. The Panthers enter the tournament with 0.02% of winning it all.

But despite the lack of outside confidence, Capel isn't phased. It's tournament season.

"One of the exciting things about this time of year, is that it is survive and advance," he said.
