Pitt's Bake Hinson Sets New Scoring High
PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers superstar Blake Hinson had already set a career milestone when he scored his 13th point of the night and set the Petersen Events ablaze with a personal 7-0 run that gave his team a first half lead over Louisville
But he wasn't done there. Hinson proceeded to score 27 first half points, tied for the fourth-most in a first half in Pitt history. He needed three more points to set a new personal scoring high and he got those three on one shot - a triple from the right wing with 18:49 left to go in the second half.
Hinson's previous career high came earlier this season when he scored 29 points in a dominating win over West Virginia. He made all seven of his 3-point attempts in that game.
Hinson would add another triple shortly after to bring his stat line to 36 points on 12-19 shooting from the field and 8-12 from 3-point range. He also ranked second on the team with five rebounds.
Louisville simply did not have an answer for Hinson, who is building a first-team All-ACC and All-American candidacy as the Panthers battle for an NCAA Tournament bid. He tied the Cardinals in points with 27 at halftime and continued to pour it on in the second.
Now that Hinson has set his own personal scoring record, he can take aim at the all-time Pitt single-game record, which is 45 points set by Don Hennon in 1957 against Duke.
