PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers biggest freshman, Dior Johnson, is reportedly facing multiple charges stemming from an incident last month.

According to a police record obtained by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Johnson was charged on Oct. 6 for accounts of aggravated assault, strangulation, unlawful restraint, simple assault and false imprisonment. The offense date is recorded at Sept. 5, 2022.

247 Sports initially reported that it is not the Dior Johnson of Pitt basketball. Chris Peak, the 247 Sports reporter, said his information comes from the program itself. However, they then went back on the report saying it is indeed the Pitt player.

Other reports have also since confirmed these reports that it is the Panther’s guard.

Johnson was a five-star recruit who de-committed from Syracuse to join the Panthers. He is already showing sparks in the early portion of practice as one of the top talents on a much-improved Pitt team.

Inside the Panthers has reached out to Pitt's basketball program in hopes of clarity but has not received a response. Will will continue to update the story as more news becomes available.
