PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers' now have a more favorable spot in the ACC standings after the biggest game of the weekend broke their way.

As Pitt was preparing to take on NC State at the Petersen Events Center, Wake Forest was taking control of their final game of the regular season against Clemson. The Demon Deacons led by eight with two minutes left and cruised to a 81-76 win over the Tigers at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Panthers entered the day as the fifth seed and, with Clemson sitting right in front of them, the Panthers moved up a spot before even reaching the halfway point of the first half. A top-four spot in the ACC standings mans a double-bye in the coming ACC Tournament.

Pitt still has to defend their home court against NC State to maintain their position as the fourth seed and would drop back down with a loss. With the result of their game against the Wolfpack still pending, and Virginia's game against Georgia Tech still to be completed, the Panthers can climb to as high as the third seed. They'd need the Cavaliers to lose to get that high.
