PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers took a one week absence from a set of national rankings from CBS Sports' Andy Katz but after finishing the regular season strong, they're back in contention as one of the best in college basketball.

Katz had Pitt ranked No. 33 in his latest Power 36 Rankings. Two weeks ago, they checked in at No. 30 before being dropped from the field all together.

Pitt is one of three ACC teams to crack the Power 36. No. 4 North Carolina and No. 12 Duke lead the way. Syracuse was dropped from the No. 35 spot this week.

The Panthers went on an 11-3 run to close the regular season after starting ACC play at 1-5. They climbed to fourth in the ACC standings, their highest regular season finish since joining the conference in 2013.

Pitt still has some work to do at the ACC Tournament in Washington, D.C. if they want to make the NCAA Tournament and they'll try to notch some critical wins beginning with their quarterfinal matchup on Thursday.
