PITTSBURGH -- Part of the Pitt Panthers' 2023 non-conference schedule is set, according to a report from CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

He claims the Panthers will head to Brooklyn, New York this coming November to compete in the Preseason NIT event at the Barclays Center. They'll face some stiff competition at that event, with Baylor, Florida and Oregon State also expected to join them there. Specific dates and tip-off times have yet to be announced.

The Panthers made a now infamous trip to Brooklyn for games at the Barclays Center last season for the Legends Classic. They lost both of their games - a 31-point blowout at the hands of Michigan and a four-point decision against VCU. Despite the poor result, Pitt credited that trip with helping them kick-start a landmark season for the program.

The non-conference schedule now has a little bit more clarity. Prior to this announcement, just one game - a December trip to Morgantown, West Virginia for the Backyard Brawl - had been set.
