PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers took a dive in the all-important NCAA NET Rankings after losing to Wake Forest in blowout fashion earlier this weekend but, like they have all season, responded with a convincing win over Virginia Tech.

As a result, the Panthers have almost completely rebounded from their earlier drop in the NET Rankings. They improved 11 spots overnight, moving up from No. 57 to No. 46 nationally. Pitt also leapfrogged Virginia, who's lost three of their last four, and the Hokies to become the fifth-highest-ranked ACC team.

They trail only No. 9 North Carolina, No. 11 Duke, No. 24 Clemson and No. 25 Wake Forest. The Panthers will visit the Tigers next week for another chance at a Quad 1 win.

Pitt is currently 3-5 against Quad 1 teams, 2-2 against Quad 2, 6-2 against Quad 3 and 7-0 against Quad 4.

The Panthers sit on the very edge of most NCAA Tournament bubble predictions, making their trip to Clemson critical for bolstering their resume. After that game, there aren't many marquee opportunities left on the schedule.
