PITTSBURGH -- Watch List season rolls on ahead of the start of training camps around the country. The Walter Camp Football Foundation is one organization assembling its list of candidates for one of the most prestigious awards in college football and Pitt Panther Calijah Kancey made the cut.

Kancey was one of 52 players to be nominated for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. The anchor of Pitt's outstanding defensive line was one of just eight defenders to make the watch list and Kancey is the only one from the ACC.

Alabama linebacker Will Anderson, Army backer Andre Carter II, Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, Iowa State end Will McDonald, Crimson Tide defensive back Eli Ricks, Bulldog corner Kelee Ringo and Oregon linebacker Noah Sewell make up the rest of the defensive standouts on the list.

Kancey has already been named a contender for the Outland, Narguski and Lott IMPACT trophies following a first-team All-ACC season in 2021.
