PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers enjoyed another successful spring at the NFL Draft this year, sending six players to teams through the draft and six more to the highest level of football through undrafted free agent contracts or rookie minicamp invitations.

Pitt leads the ACC with 14 draft picks over the past three years. Their six draft picks this year tied the conference lead with Clemson and ranked fifth nationally. 14 is also the most Panthers drafted over a three-year span since the early 1990's.

247Sports' Steve Wiltfong believes these facts have gone underappreciated on a national scale. He said the combination of success in the draft, on the field and on the recruiting trail makes for a program that has trended steadily upwards without a lot of hype.

"The Panthers came into the NFL Draft with 10 commits and 247Sports' No. 19 ranked recruiting class, so prospects are already taking notice of a program that’s also been successful on Saturdays, including a spot in the Peach Bowl after winning the conference two years ago and nine more wins, including the Sun Bowl, this past fall," Wiltfong wrote. "Pat Narduzzi has done a really nice job at Pitt and deserves more credit nationally."
