PITTSBURGH -- Four former Pitt Panthers made the trip down to Texas to begin their professional football careers at the East-West Shrine Bowl and all four showed some encouraging things at one of the premier pre-draft scouting events on the calendar.

Of the four former Panthers to travel down to Frisco, Texas for the East-West Shrine Bowl, just two - cornerbacks A.J. Woods and M.J. Devonshire - saw the field and both made an impact for the West Team, who emerged with a 26-11 victory over the East.

Devonshire started for the West Team and made two stops in addition to fielding a punt and returning it for six yards. Woods made an appearance as a backup defensive back and recorded a solo tackle.

While Woods was quiet during the game, his speed popped on the field during practices, particularly during special teams drills. A late addition

Wide receiver Bub Means didn't participate in the game but he impressed during practices, taking his 6'0 and 222-pound frame through precise routes and showing off some of his trademark acceleration on top of it.

Offensive tackle Matt Goncalves, perhaps the best professional prospect of the four Panthers who traveled to Frisco for the Shrine Bowl, did not participate in practices or the game for an undisclosed reason. He suffered a season-ending injury after playing just three games in 2023.
