PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have added yet another transfer to their defensive line room this weekend.

Former Indiana defensive end Nick James became the second player to join this Pitt position group out of the transfer portal this weekend and is the fifth transfer to commit to the Panthers this offseason.

James, a former four-star recruit (Rivals, ESPN) coming out of IMG Academy during the 2022 recruiting cycle, picked Indiana over offers from Ohio State, UCF, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Florida State and others.

He's played in 16 career games and made just seven tackles, adding one sack and a pass defended as well.

The Panthers will get Dayon Hayes and Nate Temple - the starting defensive end for most of the 2023 season - back in 2024 and both James and Kansas State transfer, Nate Matlack give them impact players that could compete for a starting job and provide depth as a backup.
