PITTSBURGH -- Pitt cornerback Demarri Mathis showed up to impress at Pitt's Pro Day and did exactly that. Now, with a solid Senior Bowl, NFL Combine and Pro Day behind him, he's ready to find his NFL home.

Mathis had an incredible 43.5 inch vertical, 11-inch broad jump and put up 15 reps of 225-pounds on the bench press during the Pro Day. Afterwards, he worked with Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on defensive back drills, with all eyes on the corner.

So, what will an NFL team get from the Pitt DB?

"Speed, athleticism, physicality and versatility," Mathis said.

The expectation right now is he'll be a mid-round pick this spring with upside in the NFL. He'll join a long line of Pitt defensive backs to make it into the league in recent years, and feels that has only helped his game.

"I feel like we always had a stacked DB room and that brings competition within the group and ultimately brings out the best out of each other," Mathis said. "It was good being able to go through that."

He also mentioned a few secondary members who will be in his position next draft season.
