PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have landed their first transfer player of the offseason this weekend, with a cornerback from the Big 10 making his commitment public.

Former Nebraska cornerback Tamon Lynum made his announcement subtly, simply changing his Instagram bio to say that he was a Pitt cornerback.

Lynum visited Pitt this weekend, according to a report from Chris Peak of Panther Lair, the Pitt Rivals site.

He spent three seasons at Nebraska, appearing in 23 games and making 14 total tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles. Lynum made the first start of his career in 2023 against Northwestern. He didn't play in eight games in 2022 after suffering a season-ending injury.

The Panthers have already lost two starting cornerbacks in A.J. Woods and Marquis Williams, who exhausted their college eligibility in 2023, and they are awaiting a decision from M.J. Devonshire, the third upperclassman first-string cornerback to start for Pitt this season. Lynum will add some experience and depth to a position they sorely need.
