Pitt DT Declares for NFL Draft
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will lose an experienced veteran defensive tackle as he pursues his dream of playing in the NFL.
David Green, a starting defensive tackle and captain during the 2023 season, announced on Twitter that his time at Pitt is over and he would begin preparing for the NFL Draft with the regular season over and no bowl game on the schedule for the Panthers.
Green arrived in 2019 and had to wait his turn behind a loaded defensive line depth chart. He appeared in just nine games his freshman and sophomore seasons before playing in 30 games over his final three seasons in blue and gold. Green ends his time at Pitt with 92 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two passes defended, two forced fumbles and an ACC title on his resume.
The Panthers figure to get significantly younger this offseason at defensive tackle with Green, plus sixth-year seniors Tyler Bentley and Devin Danielson set to end their college careers.
Underclassmen Sean FitzSimmons and Eliott Donald figure to see big upticks in playing time and true freshman Isaiah Neal could play his way into more snaps after showing some promising things this year.
