Pitt Hires New Defensive Line Coach
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have found their guy to replace long-time defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and get the defensive coaching staff back to full strength.
The Panthers will hire Tim Daoust, currently an assistant coach at Eastern Carolina, to fill the void Patridge left behind when he took a job with the Indianapolis Colts. ESPN's Pete Thamel was first to report the news and Pitt confirmed the hire with an official announcement moments later.
"Tim and I have known each other for years and he's an incredibly impressive person and coach," Pitt head coach Narduzzi said. "He has coached everything on defense and is a tremendously effective teacher and evaluator. From a personal standpoint, he is a great family man and values developing relationships. I'm really excited about bringing him to Pitt and I know our players and staff will really enjoy working with him."
Under his coaching, the Pirates ranked 17th in tackles for loss in the FBS last season at seven per game. ECU also finished in the top 30 nationally in rushing defense each of the last two seasons, finishing 18th in 2022 and 29th in 2023.
He has previous experience at Sam Houston State, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and Cincinnati. He's served on coaching staffs with Narduzzi before and a strong personal relationship helped him feel comfortable turning to Daoust for such an important position.
