PITTSBURGH -- Head coach Pat Narduzzi rarely, if ever, provides any insight into injuries hampering his Pitt Panthers, but hinted at the status of one of his many stars that were injured in their Week 2 contest against Tennessee.

Starting quarterback Kedon Slovis took a nasty hit at the end of the first half and was replaced by Nick Patti when the Panthers took the field to start the second half. Narduzzi was asked about Slovis' status following the game.

"I'm not going to disclose injuries and what happened, what we got," Narduzzi said. "But I saw Kedon in there, and he feels good."

Later in the fourth quarter, Patti himself sustained an injury to his ankle. For the rest of the game, Patti limped around the field, trying to keep the Panthers' heads above water. It was clear he was in a lot of pain, but Narduzzi said he never considered pulling Patti.

"It didn't get close [to sitting Patti]." Narduzzi said. "Nick is a fighter. He is a tough son of a gun. He made some great shots out there. Nick played well."
