PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Nathan Peterman spent less than 24 hours not on an NFL roster after being released yesterday.

After the Bears cut the former Pitt signal-caller, Peterman was re-signed to the active roster the following morning. He had been waived before the start of the regular season, signed to the practice squad and then elevated to the active roster just before Week 1.

Peterman did not appear in either of the Bears' first two games. During the preseason, he played in all three games, starting one and completing 58.3% of his 24 passes for 173 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for 22 yards on four attempts.

In college, Peterman orchestrated one of the best offenses in Pitt history. In 2016, he started all 13 games for the Panthers, who set what were then school records in scoring. He completed 60.5% of his passes for 2,855 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions while posting the ACC's highest passer rating (163.4).
