The Pitt Panthers have a heft NFL offseason ahead of them with a number of players hitting the free agent market, including stars like James Conner and Jordan Whitehead.

Pitt's free agency class is highlighted by the Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion, but doesn't end there. A proven veteran in K'Wuan Williams is also amongst the group, as well as some up-and-comers with plenty of potential.

Whitehead heads into his first NFL free agency after establishing himself in Tampa Bay as one of the best young safeties in the league. In 2021, he recorded 73 tackles, 2 interceptions, 8 passes defended while forcing opposing quarterbacks into a 62.6 passer rating.

This offseason should pay dividends for the former fourth-round pick. His current market value is three years, $23.6 million, according to Spotrac.

James Conner has a decision to make this offseason on whether or not to return to the Arizona Cardinals. After a few down years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he headed west and earned his second Pro Bowl appearance. At 26 years old, he'll hit the open market for his second time.

Conner's value is estimated at two years, $11.95 million this offseason. A boost from his $1.75 million deal he signed last offseason.

Jimmy Morrissey

Morrissey snuck his way into the 2021 NFL Draft as a seventh-round pick for the Las Vegas Raiders. He was cut and signed with the Houston Texans. Now, one season later, he has five games and four starts under his belt, and could be re-signed in Houston.

According to Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson, the Texans intent to re-sign Morrissey before the new league year on March 16.

"Jimmy’s a good dude," Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins told Wilson. "He was always, even before this opportunity presented itself to him. He was in there giving great looks. Gritty, tough guy, I like him a lot."

K'Waun Williams

The San Francisco 49ers cornerback will hit the free agent market at 30 years old with at least one more significant contract left in him. After signing a one year, $2.37 million deal last spring, Williams could be looking for a longer-term deal in 2022.

Williams started eight games for the 49ers last season, while playing 14. In five years with San Fransisco, Williams has played 65 games, including 36 starts. Returning isn't out of the question.

The Panthers have five others ready to hit the open market as well. All five will likely be additions to rosters across the league during training camp.

  • Qadree Ollison, RB
  • Lafayette Pitts, CB
  • Jaryd Jones-Smith, OT
