Pitt's Pat Narduzzi Not Looking for NFL Jobs
PITTSBURGH -- The seismic changes to some of college football's oldest rules - player compensation restrictions and the transfer portal - have made life more difficult for college coaches and even been cited as reason why some are jumping ship and pursuing NFL jobs. Pitt Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi won't be one of them.
Even after watching Michigan's Jim Harbaugh and Boston College's Jeff Hafley depart the college ranks for professional football, Narduzzi said he's committed to staying at Pitt and in NCAA football.
"Everybody’s got different goals in their life and different things that they make decisions based on, and I can’t make decisions for anybody else," Narduzzi said. "I know I won’t be hopping to the NFL, I can tell you that, it’s just not my cup of coffee I guess.
Narduzzi said he prefers working with young people and the different, more involved kind of coaching that it takes to turn high schoolers into professional prospects who are ready for the highest level of football.
"But I think everybody’s got to make that decision. I think coaching in the National Football League is different than coaching these young guys," Narduzzi said. "I mean I sat in a meeting here for about 30 minutes this morning with our guys and I just love coaching this group. I love developing the young men we have in our room and trying to get them to do it the Pitt way."
