PITTSBURGH -- Late in the second half against Syracuse, Pitt Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi had seen enough from starting quarterback Christian Veilleux. After committing his third turnover on another botched handoff, Narduzzi turned to backup Nate Yarnell, who finished out the game under center.

Veilleux was still listed as Pitt's starting quarterback on the depth chart released weekly as the Panthers prepare for a midweek date against Boston College, but Narduzzi said the decision on who will actually start on gameday is still being made.

"I don’t know," Narduzzi said when asked who the starter will be. "We’ll see Thursday night.”

Narduzzi provided little further details about when that decision would be handed down. Pitt gets just four days in between the loss to Syracuse and this Thursday's game against the Eagles.

“Probably in the next day or two," Narduzzi responded to a question about when the decision will be made. "Maybe Thursday night. Maybe in the locker room pregame. Who knows?”

Veilleux has started five games for the Panthers this season after unseating Phil Jurkovec. He's completed 94 of 184 passes (51.1%) for 1,179 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions, plus three fumbles lost. Yarnell has only played sparingly this season but has completed five of eight attempts for 123 yards and one touchdown without turning the ball over.
