PITTSBURGH -- After being demoted to third-string quarterback, Phil Jurkovec is looking for another way to make an impact on the field for the Pitt Panthers.

According to a report from Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the former Panthers starter at quarterback made a position change to tight end at practice this week.

With the Panthers mired in a 1-4 start and struggling offensively, they decided to bench starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec this week, according to a report Hiles, and will start back up Christian Veilleux in their next game against No. 25 Louisville in Week 7. He was demoted to third-string behind Nate Yarnell, according to Hiles' report.

Jurkovec certainly has the size to play tight end at 6'5 and 245 pounds. He has shown some athletic ability running with the football. He had been a quarterback - and a good one - all the way through high school. If he has any experience as a tight end, it came when he was a kid.
