Former Pitt DB Transfers to Youngstown State
PITTSBURGH -- A former Pitt Panthers defensive back has found a new home in college basketball after entering the transfer portal earlier in the offseason.
Safety Stephon Hall, a backup in the Pitt defense for the past two seasons, will join the Youngstown State Penguins, a powerhouse at the FCS level, next season the team announced this week.
Hall chose the Penguins over offers from Utah State, Toledo, Buffalo, Western Michigan, Delaware, North Texas and Miami.
Hall, a redshirt sophomore with two years of eligibility remaining, appeared in 18 games for the Panthers and recorded seven total tackles in those appearances, all coming this past season.
Hall figured to remain buried on a safety depth chart behind Donovan McMillon, P.J. O'Brien and Javon McIntyre - three rising upperclassmen who shared starting duties this past season and left little room for reserves to mix in. So while Hall was a fast-rising player in the Panthers' system, he made a move that will get him on the field quicker.
