Former Pitt Coach Takes New Job
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are undergoing some more coaching staff turnover this offseason while in the thick of spring practices.
Phil DeCapito, who had spent nine seasons with the Panthers in various capacities, is now taking on a job as the defensive line coach at Brown University, accoridng to a report from John Brice of FootballScoop.com. It's a promotion for DeCapito, who had worked primarily as a defensive quality control coach for Pitt.
DeCapito has been a member of Pat Narduzzi's coaching staff since his second season in Pittsburgh. He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Emory & Henry College in 2010 and moved on to become a defensive line assistant at Youngstown State in 2012. After three seasons with the Penguins, DeCapito joined Narduzzi at Pitt as a defensive graduate.
He took a two year spell away from Panthers to work as a defensive graduate assistant at Memphis, then defensive coordinator at Lake Erie College (Division II) before returning to Pittsburgh, where he helped coach one of the most productive front sevens in all of college football.
