PITTSBURGH -- After enjoying a breakout season with the New York Giants, former Pitt Panthers standout Jason Pinnock can expect some extra cash coming his way this offseason.

Pinnock was one of many players to earn a performance-based payout this year and was one of the top-earners in that department. The former Pitt star hauled in an extra $817,224 after the season ended, making him the 11th-highest performanced-based payout earning of the 2023 season.

Performanced-based payouts are a round of additional compensation tied to snaps played and the player's current salary - including incentives and prorated portions of their signing bonus - according to a release from the NFL Players Association. They are meant to be a bonus for players who are on the field a lot for their teams but are earning low salaries. Pinnock made just north of $3 million last season as a full-time starter at safety for the Giants.

Pinnock has played corner for most of his career but made the switch to safety when he joined the Giants for his second seaosn in the NFL. In 2023, just his second year as a full-time safety, Pinnock made 85 tackles, 6 for a loss, defended 6 passes, intercepted 2 throws and set the season-long mark for an interception return at 102 yards.

More money will be headed Pinnock's way if he continues playing like that.
