PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have landed their first major recruiting win of the offseason and it meant keeping one of their brightest stars in the Steel City for his sophomore season.

Through the team's official Twitter page, point guard Jaland Lowe confirmed that he will be back for another season in blue and gold. Lowe re-Tweeted the announcement with a simple message: "Let's get it!"

Little more than 24 hours removed from the announcement that fellow star freshman Bub Carrington would forgo his remaining college eligibility and declare for the 2024 NBA Draft, the Panthers have one part of their outstanding backcourt locked in for one more season. Now they will await confirmation from Ishmael Leggett. There has been no indication that Leggett plans on leaving Pitt but in this day and age of free player movement in college sports, there are no guaruntees.

Lowe showed he's capable of taking on the role of being a leading point guard in the ACC during the second half of the 2023-24 season. After stepping into the starting lineup mid year and starting the final 19 games of the season, Lowe averaged 13.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists to just 1.6 turnovers per game while knocking down 40.3% of his 3-pointers.

In the ACC Tournament semifinals against then-No. 4 North Carolina, Lowe scored 17 points and added four assists without a turnover while battling ACC Player of the Year, RJ Davis and the Tar Heels' veteran-laden backcourt.

The Panthers still have four scholarships remaining to use and will still have plenty of needs to address as they look forward to bouncing back from a season that they finished strong, but was capped with the bitter taste of being left out of from the NCAA Tournament.
