PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers went through all of spring practices with Nate Yarnell cemented as the starting quarterback and that won't change over the summer, according to head coach Pat Narduzzi.

Narduzzi said following a strong day for Yarnell in the 2024 Blue-Gold Game at Acrisure Stadium that he would remain the starting quarterback for the Panthers as they move through the offseason and get ready for the start of fall training camp in August.

Yarnell has been the unquestioned starter since before spring practices had started. Christian Veilleux, who started five games for the Panthers last season, was a looming threat but hasn't been able to push Yarnell enough to move up the depth chart. Meanwhile, redshirt freshman Eli Holstein, a transfer from Alabama, has played well this spring and earned the trust of his teammates and coaches with his command of the offense and ability to avoid turnovers. Still, Yarnell has been able to fend both off throughout the spring.

Yarnell finished the spring game having completed 12 of 16 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown to no interceptions.

The Panthers will open fall training camp in August and their 2024 season begins on August 31st with a home game against Kent State at Acrisure Stadium. Now, it's all but certain Yarnell will be under center for Pitt's first offensive series.
