Pitt Basketball Misses Transfer Target
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers had one of their transfer targets for men's basketball leave the transfer portal and return to their school.
Saint Louis guard Gibson Jimerson announced on his Twitter on Friday that he was departing the portal to return back to the program he's spent his entire collegiate career at.
Pitt was one of many schools to reach out to Jimerson for his services, along with West Virginia, Memphis, Indiana, Clemson, Texas A&M, UCLA, Washington, Georgetown, Oklahoma, Providence, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Kansas, Maryland, Northwestern, Colorado, DePaul, Notre Dame and Virginia.
Jimerson has featured as one of the better guards in the Atlantic-10 these past three seasons, earning Third Team A-10 honors in 2021-2022 and this past season and Second Team honors in 2022-23.
He initially entered the portal after the school fired head coach Travis Ford after eight seasons in charge, as the Bilikens finished with a 13-20 record overall and 5-13 in the A-10 last season.
Saint Louis hired Indiana State head coach Josh Schertz to succeed Ford and it looks like he did his due dillegence to bring Jimerson back to the program.
Pitt basketball will host three players this weekend, including two transfers and a talented Class of 2025 guard.
