Pitt Contacts Maryland Transfer Jamie Kaiser
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers continue to hunt for talent in the transfer portal and that has led them to a freshman transfer forward from the Big 10.
Jamie Kaiser, a 6'6 and 205-pound first-year told Portal Updates that he had heard from Pitt early on in his recruitment. Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Butler, West Virginia, DePaul, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Boston College and others are reportedly involved as well.
The production for Kaiser was underwhelming during his first season with the Terrapins. He averaged just 4.4 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal per game while shooting 27% from the field, 26.5% from 3-point range and 78% from the free throw line in 19.5 minutes per appearance. He played in 33 games, starting five during his first season of collegiate basketball.
But there is some potential there for the former unanimous four-star recruit. He was considered a top-100 player overall, top-20 shooting guard and top-10 player in Florida by each of the four major recruiting services coming out of high school in the class of 2023. Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oregon, Ohio State, UCLA, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Miami, TCU, Georgia Tech, Creighton and many more extended scholarship offers.
Now the Panthers, who didn't give him a look during high school recruiting, will try to get him in the transfer portal.
