Former Pitt CB Participates in Commanders Pro Day
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers cornerback was given another chance to show his skills when he was invited to the Washington Commanders Local Pro Day.
Woods attended Northwest High School in Germantown, Maryland roughly 45 minutes away from Commanders Field (formerly known as FedEx Field), home of the Commanders. According to Ben Standig, Commanders writer for The Athletic, Woods was joined by a talented field that included Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and West Virginia cornerback Beanie Bishop. The field also included former Panther and Arkansas graduate John Morgan III who had 74 tackles as a Defensive Lineman for the Panthers.
This, however, was not the first time Woods had the chance to show off his skills at the professional level. Woods captured the attention of many scouts at this year's Pitt Pro Day. With stats including a 4.43 40 yard dash and a 37.5 inch vertical, the 5'11 corner caught the eye of many scouts. Woods also had a chance to prove himself at the East-West Shrine Bowl in February.
Woods had a successful career as a Panther, wearing the blue and gold for five full seasons. Totalling 105 tackles and four interceptions, Woods was a driving force of Pitt's secondary, a strong point on an otherwise unmemorable team in 2023. Coached by Secondary Coach Archie Collins, Woods looks to continue the pedigree of professional-level backs from Pitt. Collins has sent 15 defensive backs to the NFL and Woods' looks to add to that number.
