PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will have to refocus their recruiting efforts elsewhere after a transfer target committed to another school at the beginning of this week.

Pitt was one of many high-majors to contact Charlotte transfer Dishon Jackson but his recruitment was quick and it ended with a commitment to Iowa State, he announced on Twitter.

Jackson chose the Cyclones over the likes of Pitt, LSU, Xavier, Cal, Miami, Arkasnas, New Mexico State and Georgia Tech.

Jackson played the best season of his career after transferring to Charlotte from Washington State. He took a medical redshirt during the 2022-23 season and came back with a vengeance this past season, averaging 11.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1% from 2-point range over 26.5 minutes per game - all of which were career-highs.

He’s an outstanding shot blocker, defensive rebounder and finisher around the rim. That, combined with his experience, makes him an ideal fit for the Panthers, who lost starting center Federiko Federiko and forward Will Jeffress to the transfer portal this weekend.
