PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers added a tall, rangy receiver as a preferred walk-on on Friday afternoon.

Isaiah Nesmith, a 6-foot-4, unrated prospect from football powerhouse American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, announced on Twitter that he had flipped his commitment from Rutgers to Pitt.

Nesmith committed to Rutgers a week after taking an official visit to Piscawatty, New Jersey in January, earning a roster spot as a preferred walk-on. He de-committed during the first week of May and followed a familiar face to Pittsburgh.

Tiquan Underwood, who is in his first year as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the Panthers, spent two years in the same post at Rutgers, where he recruited Nesmith.

Nesmith was a frequent goal-line threat for the Patriots. His basketball background showed up frequently when he went up to haul in contested catches in the end zone.

He joins a position group headlined by star transfer Konata Mumpfield and veteran Jared Wayne.

Minicamp begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
