Live Blog: Follow Purdue's Exhibition Game vs. Creighton in Real Time

Purdue is playing a charity exhibition game against Creighton on Saturday, Oct. 26. Follow along the live blog for all of the action.

In this story:

After playing against itself for months, the Purdue men's basketball team will play an actual opponent. Coach Matt Painter and the Boilermakers are in Omaha, Neb. to take on Creighton in a charity exhibition game.

Purdue returns starters Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer and Trey Kaufman-Renn from last year's 34-5 squad. Myles Colvin, Camden Heide and Caleb Furst are also back. Center Will Berg is expected to get more minutes and the Boilers also have a five-man recruiting class that will get their first test in a live game: Daniel Jacobsen, Gicarri Harris, CJ Cox, Jack Benter and Raleigh Burgess.

9:58 PM — Creighton defeats Purdue 93-87. Pop Isaacs finished the game with 24 points for Creighton. The Bluejays shot 60% from the floor and made 13-of-28 3-point tries. Purdue was led by Braden Smith, who scored 31. Trey Kaufman-Renn added 22 and Fletcher Loyer had 17.

9:56 PM — With Creighton leading 92-87, Purdue had a chance to make it a 1-possession game, but Braden Smith missed a 3-pointer and Trey Kaufman-Renn missed a jump shot after an offensive rebound.

9:51 PM — Freshman guard Gicarri Harris gets his first basket as a Boilermaker. Immediately after the bucket, his defensive intensity results in a Creighton traveling violation. Creighton still leads by 7 points.

9:48 PM — Purdue had a chance to cut into Creighton's lead and make it a 5-point game with less than 4 minutes to play. A Braden Smith turnover proved costly and the Bluejays took advantage on the other end, getting a bucket from Ty Davis. It's a 90-81 Creighton lead at the final media timeout.

9:44 PM — Braden Smith knocks down another triple to give Purdue a little bit of life in the final 6 minutes. He's got 29 points after the bucket and the score is 85-75 in favor of Creighton.

9:38 PM — Creighton is pulling away, building a 12-point lead at the under-8 timeout in the second half. The Bluejays have made each of their last five shots, making the score 81-69 with 7:31 to play.

9:37 PM — Myles Colvin knocks down a jump shot, becoming the seventh Boilermaker to score in tonight's exhibition game.

9:26 PM — A 3-pointer from Jackson McAndrew gives Creighton a 68-60 lead with 11:12 remaining in the second half. Purdue takes a timeout.

9:17 PM —Creighton has regained the lead at the first media timeout of the second half, leading Purdue 57-54. The trio of Trey Kaufman-Renn, Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer continue to do most of the heavy lifting offensively, combining for 47 of Purdue's 54 points.

9:12 PM — Purdue came out of the locker room swinging. The Boilermakers went on an 8-2 run out of halftime. A Braden Smith 3-pointer gave the Boilers a 51-50 advantage over Creighton, their first lead since early in the first half.

9:09 PM — Purdue made a change from its starting five to begin the second half, substituting freshman Daniel Jacobsen for redshirt sophomore Will Berg.

8:52 PM — After trailing by as many as 11 points in the first half, Purdue trails Creighton 48-43 at halftime. Trey Kaufman-Renn and Braden Smith each have 13 points for Purdue. The Bluejays are led by Pop Isaacs, who has scored 14.

8:42 PM — After another made 3-pointer from Creighton's Pop Isaacs (4-for-4, 14 points), Purdue goes inside to Trey Kaufman-Renn, who gets an easy basket and is fouled. Kaufman-Renn has provided a strong post presence for the Boilers, totaling 12 points at the under-4 timeout.

8:40 PM — Creighton's Pop Isaacs has caught fire in the first half, converting on all three of his shots from 3-point range. His latest came with 4:47 remaining in the first half, giving the Bluejays a 42-31 lead over the Boilermakers.

8:27 PM — Creighton's Fredrick King was able to get to the basket on back-to-back possessions, get a pair of dunks to help maintain the Bluejays lead. He's 3-of-3 from the floor with 6 points.

8:23 PM — Creighton has knocked down 3-pointers consistently early in this contest. The Bluejays are 5-of-9 from distance at the second media timeout and own a 25-15 advantage.

8:20 PM — Purdue freshman CJ Cox checks in and immediately makes an impact, knocking down a jump shot, his first shot attempt as a Boilermaker.

8:17 PM — 7-foot-4 center Daniel Jacobsen showed off his range, making his first bucket in a Purdue uniform from behind the 3-point line.

8:12 PM — Purdue made its first substitution of the game, bringing in freshman center Daniel Jacobsen, along with sophomores Myles Colvin and Camden Heide. The game has reached its first media timeout and Creighton owns an 11-8 lead.

8:09 PM — Braden Smith knocked down a corner jump shot as time expired on the shot clock after a mad chase for the loose basketball. Initially, Smith's jumper counted, but after review, officials determined he did not release the shot in time.

8:06 PM — Purdue guard Braden Smith scored the game's first basket, knocking down a jump shot from the free throw line to give the Boilermakers a 2-0 advantage in the first minute of action.

7:39 PM — Purdue announces the starting lineup will be guard Braden Smith, guard Fletcher Loyer, guard Gicarri Harris, forward Trey Kaufman-Renn and center Will Berg
